This year, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating Earth Day! At Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity, we are working to reduce our environmental impact.
We take sustainability seriously which is why our homes are built with simplicity and sustainability in mind. We are committed to resource and energy-efficient building practices. All of our homes are built to Energy Star standards that help with energy conservation as well as reducing long-term costs for our homeowners.
At the ReStore, we keep dozens of tons out of regional landfills each quarter. By donating your gently used housewares to the ReStore, you are extending the life of your furniture and reducing pollutants in landfills. In addition, shopping second hand at local thrift stores can go a long way to help the environment. When you shop secondhand, you’re cutting back on emissions from transportation, reducing carbon and chemical pollutants from production, AND saving money!
And if you really want to step up your sustainability game, head upstairs at our ReStore to the Evergreen Sustainability Alliance's refill station! Here, you can further reduce your environmental impact by refilling household items instead of buying new ones. Their current hours are Wednesdays 10am-4pm; 2nd Saturday of every month, 1pm-4pm.
We're so grateful to be a part of this beautiful mountain community, and we truly believe that together, we can make a difference in protecting our planet.
