Current Non-Construction Volunteer Opportunities:

Construction Site Host: Greet and sign-in our construction site volunteers and give a brief orientation about Habitat for Humanity.  This position is for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, from 8:30am to 9:00am.  (can volunteer any or all of these days).

Family Services Committee: Come join our Family Services Committee as we expand our outreach efforts and strengthen our support and educational services to Habitat families and to our community. We have many new and exciting volunteer opportunities to choose from:

  • Homeowner Outreach and Orientation Facilitator – this person engages in marketing and outreach efforts to find prospective homeowner applicants and also co-facilitates our Homeowner Orientation meetings.

  • Home Visitor – this person conducts home visits to applicant families and uses the family selection criteria to assess the families’ level of need for housing.

  • Family Support Partner – this person conducts home visits to assess applicant families’ level of need for housing, then “walks with” a selected family into the home ownership process and provides support for the family throughout the process.

  • Special Events Assistant – this person helps plan and prepare for special events sponsored by the Family Services program.  This can also include training events.

  • Homeowner Education Program Assistant: this person coordinates and/or facilitates homeowner education classes for our Habitat partner families and for members in our General Service Area communities.

  • “Keys from the Community” Program Assistant – this person assists in marketing our “Keys from the Community” program which includes the “Bridges Out of Poverty” workshop and the “Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin’-by World” course; also helps facilitate the “Getting Ahead…” course.   The “Keys…” program helps build relationships of mutual respect and understanding between those who are not living in poverty and those who are, and also assists those living in poverty in setting their own goals and taking action steps toward self-sufficiency.

  • C.A.R.E.S. Community Builder – this person builds cooperative relationships between Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity’s Family Services program and other community agencies and organizations, building a network of support which is Creating Access to Resources, Education, and Support for our communities’ families.

Event Committees: Our two event committees consist of enthusiastic folks who enjoy any aspect of event planning. You can take on as much as you are able and are rewarded with a wonderful event that brings in the community and raises much needed funds for Habitat.

  • Hard Hats & High Heels Committee: This group plans our signature fundraising event to take place on June 8, 2013. The committee does the food solicitation, marketing, decorating, auction, staging, finding sponsors and much more. There is a job for everyone! We will have regular monthly meetings starting in January and go until June. Please contact Tara Kindel if you would like to come, and be involved with this wonderful event and great group of people.  303-674-1127 Ext. 4. tkindel@bluesprucehabitat.org.

  • Genesee Entertains Committee: This creative committee finds four to five people to host an event at their home or elsewhere to benefit Habitat. This series of events is called Genesee Entertains. The committee helps with marketing, assist with parties, and also typically plans one or two of the events. This committee meets March through October once a month in the evenings. Please contact Tara Kindel to find out more. 303-674-1127 Ext. 4. tkindel@bluesprucehabitat.org

Great (and much needed!) ways to help Habitat on an occasional ongoing basis:
Booth Ambassadors:
Database Divas: Male or female J welcome to come into our office a few hours a month and enter the wonderful people who have donated or volunteered.
Development Committee: This committee helps the Development Director (Pandora Reagan) do community outreach, particularly to the business community.  The group finds event sponsors and in kind donors, and will also help plan a lunch or breakfast for the business community.
Faith Relations Task Force: This group will meet four times during 2011. We will look to this group to give advice and feedback on our new outreach plan to the faith community and help us make contacts with the faith community.
Occasional projects: If you’re unable to make a regular commitment to volunteering but would like to help out when and where you can, or would like to offer your talent or expertise when it might be needed, just give us a call or keep checking our web site. We have many projects throughout the year that might fit perfectly with your interests or expertise.
